“This scheme will enable me to witness how the internal structures of theatres function. As someone who aspires to lead such organisations one day, this is a vital learning curve and an amazing step in that direction.”

Theatre Director
Eileen Bellot
“I dropped everything I was doing when I heard about Artistic Directors of the Future’s, Board Shadowing opportunity. This will be a great chance to see the impact of strategic thinking within theatre. I look forward to going on this journey with the amazing companies opening up their doors, Complicité, ETT and Punchdrunk, as well as the fab team at ADF.”

Theatre Director
Francesca Murray-Fuentes
“I am proud to be part of the London Edition of ADF’s Board Shadowing scheme and be part of its associated network. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about how executive decisions are made in these three leading theatre companies. I will build on this to contribute to positive change in the governance of future theatre organisations.”

Theatre Co-ordinator
Natasha Patel
“I am delighted to be selected for the Board Shadowing Programme. It will be an amazing opportunity for me to see first-hand the role of a board to a company and the decisions being made as well as connecting with incredible companies Complicité, Punchdrunk and English Touring Theatre. This opportunity will help to shape my career in both my own practice and as a trustee for an organisation in the future.“

Theatre and Movement Director & Producer
Tian Sampson-Brown
“I’m so excited to be part of the programme and excited that a programme like this exists! I believe a priority we should be setting is seeing more people belonging to diverse backgrounds and underrepresented backgrounds in greater positions of leadership within organisations and at board level, so we can see more significant change and progression within our industry with the stories we tell, the initiatives we start and the communities that we impact.”

Actor and Theatre Maker
Youness Bouzinab
“I am excited to have been selected for the Programme and grateful for the opportunity. What a privilege to be “in the room where it happens”, and witness the work of these three influential companies. I am looking forward to the invaluable lessons and exciting conversations. Thank you ADF for championing our voices and setting up the Programme!”

Producer
Zak Khan
“I am incredibly excited to be joining the ADF’s Board Shadowing Programme: London Edition. It’s fantastic that these leading companies are engaged with the lack of diversity at our industry’s most senior levels. I feel confident that this scheme, and ADF’s wider work, will continue to result in the real change that is much needed in the performing arts.”
