Chair of Trustees, Artistic Directors of the Future
Artistic Directors of the Future is dedicated to creating change where it matters the most, at leadership level
Artistic Directors of the Future (ADF) is seeking a dynamic, exceptional and dedicated individual to become the new Chairperson of our board. Following the great success of our flagship leadership programmes Up Next, Diversifying Boards, and Board Shadowing: Yorkshire and London Edition, the Chairperson will join the organisation as we embark on an exciting period of capacity development, national activity and growth.
About Artistic Directors of the Future
ADF is a charitable organisation founded by Simeilia Hodge-Dallaway in 2014. We are the UK’s first organisation dedicated to creating change at leadership level in mainstream theatres, across the UK and internationally. ADF works with a wide range of culturally diverse directors at varying levels of experience to inspire, prepare, support and empower the next generation of artistic leaders, giving them the leverage they need to progress to the next step. By working in collaboration with the theatre industry, academia and numerous leading producing theatres located nationally, ADF delivers a bespoke development programme, generates access to positions of authority, and cultivates artistic opportunities.
As an accomplished and experienced leader in your field, you will play a vital role in guiding, supporting ADF’s strategic direction, and advocating for our work. Together ensuring that the activity we deliver for our members and stakeholders continues to serve the mission and aims of the organisation.
We would like to thank our former Chairperson who chose to step down at the end of his second term of office. In line with our planning we are now looking to succeed our interim Chairperson. ADF regularly reviews the skills and expertise of our board to ensure it has the right balance to further our strategic aims and have identified a need, following the appointment of the new Chairperson, for 2-3 new board appointments.
We are particularly interested in applications from people with specific skills in the following areas:
- The ability to engage business through high value networks of individuals and organisations that can sponsor and support the work of Artistic Directors of the Future.
- Access to arts education and artistic practice and/or leadership development expertise and networks, national and international conferences, training, artistic practice and consultation.
- Capacity to bring new and specific sector business development knowledge, strategic advice and insight.
We are particularly interested in appointing an individual who has experience of organisational development in a business or cultural context. Please note, applicants do not need to have direct experience in theatre or the arts, but they should share ADF’s commitment to creating a cultural sector that reflects the diversity of society, especially at decision making and leadership level.
Please send your CV and a cover letter (maximum 1 side of A4) explaining why you would be appropriate for the role of Chairperson.
Deadline: 10am, Monday 16 March 2020
